Art 2060 – Flash Assignment

The flash photography assignment had two photographs we had to submit. One had to be a fill flash that was taken during the day or in a location that required the flash but where one would probably not immediately notice that a flash went off. The second photograph for this assignment was a creative flash. The use of strobe lights, flashlights, and laser pointers were allowed. My photographs tend to be more conservative and more “traditional” photographs.

This second photograph was really fun to capture. I went up the Mill Creek Canyon and went up to one of my favorite trails and set the camera up on a tripod and walked down the path and triggered my strobe flash that I had in my hand. The camera was in bulb mode and ended up having about a minute exposure which helped capture the stars, clouds and the natural lights.

Art 2060 – Long Exposure Assignment

The long exposure assignment was an assignment to explore these functions with our cameras. I purchased a remote shutter release to be able to take these photographs. These photographs were some of the most enjoyable shots to capture.

Art 2060 – Composition Assignment

My third assignment was to capture the same subject with different compositions. I somewhat struggled with this assignment as I couldn’t determine what would be a substantially different composition. There are many rules that one must consider when composing a photograph such as the rule of thirds, properly framing a subject, the noise and distractions, and just story behind the photograph.

Art 2060 – Aperture Assignment

The aperture assignment was fun because I had a few different angles and locations that I used to get some different examples of how your aperture can drastically change a photograph.

Art 2060 – Shutter Speed Assignment

To balance my heavy engineering and math classes this fall, I decided to take a digital photography class. My class has been lots of fun and probably will end up being one of the most enjoyable classes that I have taken in college. I will be posting a collection of photographs that I have taken for this class.

My first assignment was a shutter speed assignment. Two photographs with different shutter speeds.

Blog Relocation

Saturday, 11 October 2008, 12:14 pm

Over the last few weeks I have been working on moving my blog over to my farookkhan.com domain. It finally has happened. It took some time to get everything working and functioning properly, but finally, I can announce that my blog is now located at www.farookkhan.com. I have been toying with some different styles of handling my blog and we’ll see how they turn out. I hope to post a little more frequently, especially sharing my photographs. I plan on posting a few photographs in the next few days.

Fall has finally started and the weather has gotten very cold here in Utah. School has been going for a few weeks and I have the first round of midterms under my belt. This week is fall break which is basically a spring break but in October. To celebrate having no school, I also took the whole week off of work too!
